Only-in-Kyoto! A List of Unique Omurice in Kyoto

Omurice is a popular Japanese dish that people generally eat at home. At the same time, it is a popular dish mainly served in western style restaurants in Japan. There are many unique restaurants that serves omurice in Kyoto. Here's the list of places you should definitely visit while you're there!

Kichi Kichi

You may have watched a video of a chef making an open omelet on media. As some of you may already know, their omurice is incredible, looking delicious with fluffy egg and demi-glace sauce! Their regular-sized omelet is available at ¥2,700, and small for ¥1,450.
It is required to make a reservation through their website, so check the link below and book as soon as you can! Just a 3-minute walk from Sanjo station.

L'oeuf (京都オムライス ルフ)

Hidden in Pontocho, one of the old streets in Kyoto, this place have so many different kinds of omurice including mentaiko (seasoned cod roe) omurice, seafood omurice, Japanese style omurice, Kyoto omurice and more! If you want to have an incredibly delicious omurice in Kyoto, you should definitely stop by! Around a 3 minute walk from Kawaramachi station. Their omurice is available from ¥780 to ¥1,500.

Omurahouse (おむらはうす 金閣寺店)

If you are around Kinkakuji area, this is where you go! Their omurice cannot get any Kyoto-er. What's so special about their omurice is that they have yuba (soy sheet) omurice on their menu! Yuba is one of the popular Kyoto cuisines, so you can enjoy yuba omurice only in Kyoto.
They also have salad omurice, and other appealing omurice too! Price is around ¥730~1200.
Around a 5 minute walk from Kinkakuji-mae bus stop.

Grill Fukuya (グリル 富久屋)

Established more than 100 years ago, this place is beloved by not just people in Kyoto, but also by Maiko (apprentice geisha) and kabuki actors. You should try their "Fukuya Omurice"! They don't use ketchup to add flavor, so you can enjoy the taste of ingredients. Their other dishes are also really delicious, so it's worth trying them! Around a 10 minute walk from Gion Shijo station, people generally spend ¥1,000~1,999 for lunch and ¥2,000~2,999 for dinner.

Cham

This hidden cafe is very famous for their omurice, but just a heads up their omurice is only available on Tuesday and Wednesday lunch! They have 5 different omurice menu available, including a daily special. In the past, they had Chinese, nabe (hot pot dish), and dried curry themed omurice. On their website it says they can't speak English, but they have English menu ready! Just a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi station. Their omurice is around ¥950~1,200.
