Japan's largest outdoor gear store 'Alpen Outdoors' was opened on Friday, April 19th in Chiba prefecture's Kashiwa City (close to Tokyo).

The gigantic store features more than 100,000 products from 450 brands, and a floor space of roughly 7,600 square meters.

We heard the news that the popular outdoor gear brand 'Snow Peak' was opening its first ever cafe in a garden space inside the cafe, so we went to check it out.

The cafe uses a 'house box' designed by famous architect Kengo Kuma (architect of the new National Stadium) as its storefront, and is located inside a garden space within the Alpen Outdoors store complex.

The unique and simple 'house box' design is sure to be a hit with outdoor enthusiasts!

The cafe serves delicious hand-drip coffee made exclusively with Snow Peak products that are designed for use outdoors.

It felt like we were actually enjoying a cup of coffee while camping, and was an awesome experience. The kettles, drippers, and even the tables were all Snow Peak brand, and we couldn't help but want to purchase everything! (I guess they've got a great merchandising tactic).

There's also an eat-in space inside the store, which is perfect for a quick, relaxing shopping break.

It sounds like they've got plans to expand to simple food items as well, so we are looking forward to coming back for some camp food next time!

You'll need more than just one day to explore the entirety of the largest outdoor shop in Japan

The gigantic, 3-story store features more than 100,000 products from 450 brands.

The first floor is dedicated to camping gear, the second floor is for yoga and kid's gear, and the third floor is devoted to serious mountain gear.
Bouldering_wall
The store's greatest feature is that everything can be tried out! Customers are able to test out the tents and camping gear, or try on the climbing shoes and test them out on the bouldering wall.

The awesome 'Snow Peak Cafe' isn't the only fun thing to try out here!

Other events are also happening in the garden space!

BBQ_scene
Also in the garden space, there's currently a BBQ experience event taking place.

Different meats are grilled using the various Weber grills sold in the store, and you can try out the result! This is also worth checking out when you're there if you really want to enhance that camping vibe.

When you get tired of shopping, take a breather at the Snow Peak Cafe!
