Bonus Info: Vegan & Organic Food Tour in Tokyo

Before we give you our list of great vegetarian restaurants, here's a bit of bonus information about some great vegetarian foodie tours in Tokyo. Magical Trip offers some really fun food tours with a local that will make you discover those hard-to-find quaint izakayas and restaurants serving great foods and drinks that only a local can guide you to.

T's Tantan (Tokyo Station)

T's Tantan is inside Keiyo Street, in the Tokyo station, so it is very easy to access. This place is awesome because they serve Japanese dishes as well as Western dishes. You can find pasta and pizza, but more importantly ramen! The T's tantan-men being their claim to fame. It is creamy and spicy and the taste is deepened with sesame (¥1,200). You should also get the veggie gyoza (¥480 for 4).

Noodle Stand Tokyo (Harajuku)

Noodle Stand Tokyo is located just a 1-minute walk from Harajuku station.

This is their amazing most popular vegan dish: the vegan tantanmen. Instead of the usual minced meat, the toppings consist of a kind of soy-based fake minced meat, cashew nuts, onions, bok choy, and hot pepper.

The creamy-texture soup has no animal product in it either. It is made of a mix of soy milk, coconut milk, and sesame oil. It has a rich taste and savouriness that is really outstanding, and there is a nice spicy aftertaste as well.

Olu'olu Cafe

Olu'olu cafe is a Hawaiian-style organic and vegan cafe in Sangenjaya, located close to Setagaya Park and about 10 minutes from Sangenjaya station. The staff is lovely and speaks English, and the food is delicious! What's awesome about this resto is that they have a really intricate vegan menu. They seem to have daily vegan ramen options which change often. They also have tantan-men ramen! You could try both and see which one is your favourite.

Afuri (阿夫利)

Afuri is a ramen joint with a couple of branches across Tokyo (Roppongi, Ebisu, Nakameguro, Sangenjaya). The branch in Harajuku is the most popular because of its central location in one of Tokyo's busiest shopping district. Although it isn't vegan, it has some really amazing vegetarian and vegan ramen options that you should try. Packed with seasonal veggies, the broth has lots of natural mushroom and vegetable umami! It's delicious and healthy!

Shinjuku Gyoen Ramen Ouka

This restaurant opened in 2016 with a concern for those who have dietary restrictions, but still want to enjoy delicious ramen. It is still rather rare to be able to enjoy Halal or vegan ramen in Japan, but you can enjoy both here. The ramen set here is hearty and delicious. It comes with soy meat, veggie-packed ramen and even curry with rice. It's flavorful and offers a tasty alternative to meat ramen.

Sora No Iro

Sora No Iro is located 5-minutes away from Kojimachi Station. The restaurant is so popular, there's a line-up before it even opens! The resto has been in the Michelin guide for 3 years in a row so you know it's good!
Kojimachi is a local area with a lot of businessmen and women who line-up for ramen at Sora No Iro for lunch. But, the rotation speed is quite fast, so you won't have to wait too long.
The resto isn't strictly vegetarian, but they have vegetarian and vegan options (¥1,100). It's made with plenty of veggies and is very filling, yet still healthy.
